Earn your "Agriculture Kid" Badge during Farm week!
We start our week by learning about Pastoral, Arable, and Mixed Farming! Your kiddos will cultivate their minds and build agricultural skills as we study The Life Of A Seed, composting, plant care, select and sprout seeds, and transplant. They will immerse themselves in the dirty process while integrating knowledge of soil microbes, such as how they stimulate our immune systems, promote hormone regulation, and hinder the development of cancerous cells. On Tuesday we begin our daily adventures to local farms where we will meet the farmers, support their farm stands with purchases (for our farm fresh end-of-week picnic), and interact with the land and animals through picking and/or animal care. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we have yet to confirm all of the participating farms and dates. We will update this posting as we receive official confirmation. Stay tuned!
On Thursday we will visit The Blue Alpaca Ranch where we will pet and groom the Alpacas, discover the inner workings of the farm, and engage in a crafting project! By the end of the week, your kiddo will have gained a holistic awareness of the origin of food, its important role in our health, and witnessed the growth of their very own food source they will take home to the family garden! Don't have a home garden? Encourage your kiddo to create one, they will be pros at it! We wrap things up with our Badge Ceremony, Farm Fresh picnic, and a surprise water activity! Parents are welcome to participate, however, it is not a requirement. Photo documentation will be available.
